Export of food supplements to the US

I have a food supplement made of Moringa wanted to export to the US. What export regulations need to be followed for the export of food supplements?

If you are planning to export a food supplement made of Moringa to the US, there are several export regulations that you will need to follow. Here are some of the essential regulations to keep in mind:

  1. FDA Registration: All facilities that manufacture, process, pack or hold food supplements intended for consumption in the United States must register with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) [1].
  2. Labelling Requirements: Labelling your food supplement must meet the requirements set by the FDA. This includes a formal statement of identity, a list of ingredients, a nutrition information panel, and any necessary warning statements [2].
  3. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs): The FDA has established regulations for the manufacturing, packaging, labelling, and holding food supplements to ensure their quality and safety. The manufacturer must comply with these regulations [3].
  4. Import Requirements: The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulates the import of food supplements into the United States. You will need to provide documentation for the CBP, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bill of lading
  5. FDA Prior Notice: Before shipping your food supplement to the United States, you must submit an electronic prior notice to the FDA at least 24 hours before the shipment arrives [4].
  6. Adulteration and Misbranding: The FDA has strict regulations regarding the adulteration and misbranding of food supplements. Your product should not contain any prohibited substances and must not be marketed with false or misleading claims [5].

You should consult with a regulatory expert or attorney to ensure that you comply with all applicable regulations.
