Our goal is to make your dream concept a commercial product, integrating our strong knowledge of ingredients and techniques to help you make the right decisions

Bone and Joint Health

  • Bone and Joint problems remain and will remain leading health ailments for consumers globally. Ailment such as osteoporosis or bone loss is an aggravating factor for the precipitation of bone disease. The feature of osteoporosis is a decrease in density and strength of bone. Poor lifestyle, medical procedures and medication perhaps contribute to bone loss.
  • Bone is living tissue and needs all the nutrients that other tissues require but with extraordinary requirements for calcium, phosphorus and protein along with Vitamin D, K and dietary factors such as soy isoflavones and milk-based protein. A number of natural agents were found to be effective, including resveratrol, curcumin, quercetin, withanolide, silibinin, Wedeloalctone, and silymarin.
  • At Guires food research lab, we formulate food and nutraceuticals for all kinds of bone diseases, including osteopetrosis, periodontal problems and bone cancer metastases. Guires scientific expertise partners to create winning products that meet the above requirements.

We develop organic or conventional based on the client specifications. We source both plant and animal-based ingredients to formulate bone and joint health.

We use safe, inexpensive and proven ingredients from natural sources that exhibit anti-osteoclastogenesis potential. Example 1-acetooxychavicol acetate from Apina galangal, acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (salai guggul), butein (Cashew), curcumin and calebin A (from turmeric), cardamonin (from Cardamonin), coronarin D (White ginger lily), disegenin (from fenugreek), embelin (false black pepper), gambogic acid (from mangosteem), gossypin (rose mallow), guggulsterone (guggle tree), honokiol (hou po), isodexoyelephantopin (elephant foot), indole-3 carbinol (brassica species), plumbagin (from chitrak), reseveratrol (from grapes), simvastatin, thiocolchicoside from flame lily, withanolides (from ashwagandha), zerumbone (subtropical ginger), and zyflamend (poly herbal)

The nutraceuticals identified from dietary agents such as butein, cardamonin, coronarin D curcumin, diosgenin, embelin, gambogic acid, genistein, plumbagin, quercetin, reseveratrol, zerumbone and more, can modulate cell signaling pathways and reverse/slow down osteoporosis.

The formulation depends on the requirements and classifies them. For instance, we extract chemical constituents (active ingredients) such as nutrients and herbals [(e.g., Polysaccharides can be extracted from different plants such as Silybum marianum L. (milk thistle)], phytochemicals, polyunsaturated fatty acids, or extract probiotics, and prebiotics or nutraceutical enzymes. We also carry out formulation in non-traditional forms by fortification or recombinant nutraceuticals.

We can formulate the products in the form of ready-to-drink, ready-to-serve, ready-to-eat, ready-to-cook, ready-to-drink, ready-to-mix formulations along with soft or hard gels, capsules, tablets, syrups, gummies, or sachets containing a concentrated source of minerals, vitamins, or botanical extracts

We can fortify the foods with Calcium, Vitamin D, Magnesium, Vitamin C, Vitamin B12, zinc, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K, along with enhancers such as inulin or whey protein. Polyphenols, and lycopene, have also been used in the formulations. We can also formulate food using food waste such as chicken eggshells, duck eggshells, quail eggshells, seashells, oyster shells, and fish bones.

We can enhance biscuits, bread, breaded fried meat, pizza, spaghetti, chocolate cake, muffin, Nham, Ser Smazony, white bread, yoghurt, and pasta by incorporating shells from the various sources.

Our Scientists formulate herbal-based formulations by utilizing Isoflavones, soybean, red clover, alfalfa, Pueraria candollei var. mirifica, epimedium, hop, dried plums, horsetail, salvia miltiorrhiza, labisia pumila and eurycoma longifolia, drynaria fortunei, tea, broccoli,

Dairy-based beverages formulation

We formulate the functional dairy-based beverages

Functional dairy-based beverages can be divided into two main groups:

  • Formulation of Added-value dairy beverages: this category includes those beverages in which one or more components have been removed, for example, lactose-free milk, low-fat milk, or low-fat drinkable yoghurt.
  • Formulation of Fortified dairy beverages: fortification increases the amount of nutrients commonly present before processing in a food product. This is the case with calcium, magnesium, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), whey proteins (WPs), or fat-soluble vitamins such as A or D.
  • Formulation of Enriched dairy beverages: this category encompasses dairy beverages to which bioactive component has been added to promote health benefits beyond their basic nutritional value, for example, probiotics, prebiotics, phytochemicals, fiber, sterols, or omega-3-enriched dairy beverages, among others.

Pro-prebiotic formulations for bone health

Functional dairy-based beverages enriched in probiotics are an optimum way to reestablish the intestinal microflora balance. Our formulation experts ensure that the probiotics (e.g., Lactobacillus acidophilus (L. acidophilus) and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. Lactis) comply with neutral pH, total solids level, absence of oxygen, and near ambient temperatures. Probiotic drinking yoghurt with L Casei Imunitass cultures, B Longum BB536, S Thermophilus, L delbrueckii subsp bulgaricus, milk drink containing Lactobacillus Casei Shirota Drink yoghurt with LGG, vitamins and minerals. Our food experts ensure the stability of these formulations and ensure the protection of functional ingredients within edible delivery methods.

The phytosterols-based formulation for bone health

The intake of 2–3g/day of phytosterols is associated with a significant lowering (5%–15% range) of LDL (LDL-cholesterol) (MacKay and Jones, 2011). The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the health claim related to plant sterols and plant stanols and maintenance of normal blood cholesterol concentrations (EFSA journal numbers 2010;8(10):1813 and 2011;9(6):2203 and FDA 21 CFR 101.83, respectively). However, the current intake ranges between 150-400 mg/d, which supposes about 10% - 20% of the recommended intake. We formulate products based on phytosterols such as synthesized from vegetable oil, for example, sunflower oil or soybean oil. Among dairy, spreads were the first commercial applications of plant sterols-enriched food, and low-fat milk and reduced-fat yoghurt are the most commercialized functional dairy-based beverages enriched in plant sterols

Skimmed Cow’s milk with plant sterol esters (e.g. Floral ProActive), skimmed fermented milk with plant sterol (e.g. Danacol), Yoghurt drink with plant sterols (e.g. Kaiku Benecol), Milk with plant sterol
