Hot Cereals

What are Hot Cereals ?

Hot cereals are a breakfast food typically made by cooking grains such as oats, quinoa, rice, or wheat in milk or water until they reach a porridge-like consistency. Hot cereals can be eaten plain or flavoured with fruit, nuts, seeds, spices, sweeteners, and protein powders. Some common types of hot cereals include:

  1. Oatmeal: Made from steel-cut oats, rolled oats, or instant oats, oatmeal is a popular hot cereal that can be prepared in a pressure cooker, microwave or stove. It is often flavoured with cinnamon, brown sugar, and fruit.
  2. Cream of wheat: Made from finely ground wheat, cream of wheat is a hot cereal often served with milk and sweeteners such as honey or maple syrup.
  3. Quinoa porridge: Made from quinoa, a high-protein grain, quinoa porridge is a hot cereal often flavoured with fruit, nuts, and spices.
  4. Rice porridge: Rice porridge is a hot cereal often served with milk and sweeteners such as sugar or condensed milk.

Hot cereals are a popular breakfast food because they require minimal preparation, are convenient, versatile, and can be customised to suit different tastes and dietary needs. In addition, they are rich in fibre, protein, and nutrients, which can help provide sustained energy throughout the day.
