United States: Twin Marquis LLC Recalls Thick Shanghai Style Noodles for Undeclared Egg Allergen

Recall Nov 13, 2025

Category of the product: Twin Marquis (Thick Shanghai Style Plain Noodles)

Type of the product: Food & Beverages Allergens

FDA Date: October 04, 2025

Company announcement date:  October 03, 2025

Twin Marquis LLC has recalled Twin Marquis® Thick Shanghai Style Plain Noodle packages voluntarily due to the presence of undeclared egg in the product that was not declared on the labeling. The recall is being initiated out of an abundance of caution as the inadvertent addition of egg is a serious health risk to those with egg allergies. Egg is considered one of the top eight food allergens supervised by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and undeclared egg violates labeling regulations and may cause anaphylaxis or other severe allergic reactions in zealous individuals.

Reason for warning:

The recall was initiated because certain packages of Twin Marquis® Thick Shanghai Style Plain Noodles, labeled as egg-free, may have been inadvertently filled with Lo Mein noodles that contain egg. The undeclared allergen of egg poses a serious risk of an allergic reaction, which can be life-threatening, to individuals who are allergic to egg. The adverse food event that led to this recall was made after receiving a complaint from a distributor, which led to the recall of the affected 16 oz packages with date code “05520”, which were distributed nationwide to ethnic retail stores. [1]

Root Cause analysis:

The root cause of the Twin Marquis LLC recalls stemmed from a production and packaging issue where packages labeled as Shanghai Style Plain Noodles, which did not have egg listed as an ingredient, were accidentally filled with Lo Mein noodles that did contain egg. This occurred due to controls failing during the manufacturing process, which lead to cross-contamination or a products mix-up. It was determined the products had been mixed following a complaint by a distributor and that there were major cracks in the process for product segregation and allergen verification. As a result, there was undeclared egg that posed a significant risk of a potential severe allergic reaction to consumers, as egg is a major allergen. A recall was conducted to limit exposure and to protect consumers. [2]

Health Risks:

Egg allergy can cause serious allergic reactions including anaphylaxis, respiratory difficulties, skin reactions, gastrointestinal symptoms, and cardiovascular collapse. Because exposure to undeclared allergens can be dangerous, it is critical for affected consumers to avoid these products.

Issue identified:

The Thick Shanghai Style Plain Noodle packages from Twin Marquis LLC face a recall because some packages containing egg-based Lo Mein noodles were mistakenly placed in the market without proper allergen disclosure. The recalled products reached all parts of the United States through ethnic retail stores.
