Job Function/Role Summary:

This role will be based in Chennai and The Nutritionist at FRL plays a pivotal role in the development and optimization of food, nutraceutical, functional food, and pet food products. This position requires expertise in nutritional science, product formulation, and therapeutic meal planning. The Nutritionist will create customized dietary charts and portion-controlled meals for clients with specific health needs, particularly for managing chronic diseases. The role also involves coordinating with suppliers and food technologists to ensure the delivery of high-quality, therapeutic foods. Additionally, the Nutritionist will engage in research, design clinical interventions, and ensure that all products meet regulatory standards. This position demands strong cross-functional collaboration, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively with both clients and stakeholders. 

Required Qualification:

A bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is required, with a Master’s/PhD in a natural science (e.g., Chemistry, Biology) or engineering (e.g., Chemical, Biomedical, Material Science) preferred 

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nutritional formulation, product development, or a related field within the food, nutraceutical, or functional food industry. 
  • Experience in developing therapeutic meal plans and portion-controlled foods for specific health needs is highly desirable. 
  • Experience in coordinating with suppliers and food technologists to ensure product quality and compliance. 
  • Proven track record of conducting research, designing clinical studies, and applying findings to product development and therapeutic interventions. 
  • Familiarity with global regulatory requirements and standards for food and nutritional products.

Job Title: Nutritionists

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Nutritional Formulation and Development: 
  • Lead Formulation Efforts: Lead the development and optimization of food, nutraceutical, functional food, and pet food formulations, ensuring they meet nutritional standards and comply with regulatory requirements. 
  • Research and Innovation: Conduct research and apply advanced nutritional science to enhance product quality, efficacy, and consumer appeal. Innovate formulations that address specific dietary needs, health concerns, and therapeutic goals for a wide range of products. 
  • Therapeutic Meal Planning: Develop customized dietary charts and meal plans tailored to individual customer needs, particularly for therapeutic purposes such as managing chronic diseases. 
  • Therapeutic Portion-Controlled Food Packaging and Delivery: Coordinate with suppliers and food technologists to pack therapeutic portion-controlled foods tailored to individual client needs. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of these meals to clients, following up to assess satisfaction and make necessary adjustments to meal plans based on feedback and progress. 
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: 
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all product formulations across food, nutraceutical, functional, and pet food categories adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and nutritional guidelines. 
  • Ingredient and Supplier Monitoring: Monitor and review the quality of ingredients, sourcing practices, and supplier compliance to maintain the highest standards of product integrity. 
  • Regulatory Updates: Conduct ongoing reviews and assessments of current formulations and processes to ensure compliance with evolving regulations and industry best practices. 
  • Research and Analysis: 
  • Stay Current: Stay abreast of the latest scientific research and industry trends in nutrition, applying this knowledge to product development and therapeutic meal planning. 
  • Clinical Studies: Design and oversee clinical studies and interventions to validate the nutritional efficacy and safety of products, particularly in managing chronic diseases. 
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Analyze and interpret data to make informed recommendations, supporting strategic decisions in product development and therapeutic interventions. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: 
  • Team Alignment: Collaborate closely with product development, marketing, and quality assurance teams to ensure that product goals and objectives are aligned and achieved. 
  • Technical Support: Provide technical expertise to resolve formulation challenges and address specific nutritional and therapeutic concerns. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with a broad range of stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, to gather feedback and enhance the effectiveness of products and therapeutic meal plans. 
  • Education and Training: 
  • Training Programs: Develop and deliver educational materials and training programs for internal teams and external partners, focusing on nutrition, therapeutic meal planning, and evidence-based dietary interventions. 
  • Industry Representation: Represent FRL at industry conferences, seminars, and workshops to share knowledge and promote the company’s commitment to innovation in nutrition and health-focused product development. 

Work Schedule:
Full Time, Monday to Saturday, 10:00a.m. to 7:00pm. Hours may vary on occasion, depending on workload.

Skills Required:

  • Nutritional Expertise: Deep understanding of nutritional science, therapeutic diets, and chronic disease management. 
  • Formulation Skills: Experience in developing and optimizing food, nutraceutical, and pet food formulations. 
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of industry standards, safety regulations, and nutritional guidelines across various product categories. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex nutritional concepts to clients and stakeholders. 
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. 
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with data management, analysis, and the use of formulation software. 
  • Client Focus: Ability to develop personalized meal plans and follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction and effectiveness.
